UNDERSTANDING GENETIC TESTING BEFORE PREGNANCY

Risk Factors

It is possible for couples without risk factors to have a baby with a birth defect. However, the risk of birth defects is higher when certain factors are present. Risk factors must first be assessed by a screening process. This can determine whether you have a genetic disorder, whether you could have a child with a genetic disorder, or whether there is a family history of a genetic disorder.
